So, I am new to KD's books, but have read a few of CC's and always been impressed with her growth as a writer. I heard about this book and the gist if it through social media and it sounded INTENSE, which is my FAVORITE kind of read! I love the angst! If I don't want to put down my kindle than you win!
The cover came out and I was still super intrigued. It made it look darker and edgier and sexy! Great combination in my mind!
I prefer to go into books completely blind. I like the suspense it adds of not knowing what is going to happen. It was a little hard to do with this one because several people I know had been talking about how they wanted to read it. So, I had a basic gist of the plot and of course, my own thoughts and ideas on what was to come of the story.
Then I got the book. To say I was anxiously, excited would be a bit of an understatement. But...
This book was not exactly how I imagine it would be... It was different.. It was unique... It was broken people trying to fix broken people. It was love at all costs. It was surprising. It was intense. I think I teared up. It was a whole new world of story for me to read.
But I liked that, because it's hard to step away from the cookie cutter type of story. It's hard to step out of our comfort zones. It's hard to pour out something so tragic into a story that hundreds, maybe even thousands of people could read.
I will say that this book is not for everyone. Not every book is for everyone, so no surprise there, but this book is perfectly written for the ones who need it.
I believe everyone is a reader and there is a book out there for everyone, you just have to find it. For the dark, broken, and struggling this is a perfect fit.
And honestly, for some people this is the book that kinda gives a humorous spin to a tragic part of their life and sometimes that is the intense therapy we need to get us to a new level.
KD and CC did a great job with this one and I hope they write more together in the future!
